Talking about the world / Hablando del mundo

Album: Musogabi - Cassiopeia

This post is for this month Bearblog Carnival "An album that got me through a hard time".

I have a lot albums that have helped me, because as I said before music is one of my pillars of life, and is hard to choose one. This is even harder to choose because I listen a lot of music and hard times aren't an exception, in reality it would be a mix of various albums and songs, or it would be easier to mention a musician or band as a whole, because I'd listen to the whole discography.

I wanted to talk about an album that I haven't mentioned before, but I couldn't thought any other than Cassiopeia by Musogabi. I realized that yes, I've mentioned it, but I haven't really talked in detail about it and on top of that is one of my favorite albums! I think this is a perfect post to properly introduce it.

How did I found it?

I was on YouTube and suddenly a thumbnail caught my attention, there was someone playing guitar in a beautiful landscape, I clicked without a thought. I don't remember what cover it was, but I really liked how he sounded, I thought "Wow, that was beautiful". Then I checked a ton of his other covers and scrolled through his channel, I think I spent easily more than an hour. Finally I found the "Releases" section and I was very surprised and happy to found out that he had released an album a couple of weeks ago, his debut album!

It really spoked to me. And I found it just at the right time. I won't go in details, but I'll say It was a time when I was feeling very unmotivated and without energy. The music made me feel comforted like someone singing a lullaby.

Why is important to me?

Since I discovered this album, I've listened to it many times. Every time I want to revive the feeling of that first listen, to calm down, to relax, to cheer me up. Is my album for when I'm having a hard time, I always play it.

One more memory I have with this album was a night with heavy rain. I was sleeping but I woke up by the sound of toads? I think that's what they were, they were doing a very loud noise, extremely loud that I couldn't fall sleep again, so I took my headphones and played this album. It didn't really help me to go back to sleep, but it covered the noise that was bothering me, that was enough for me. I was also stressed because I couldn't sleep, but after listening to the album I felt better.

About the album

Now, talking in detail about the music, I love the instrumentals on every song, the acoustic guitar fits perfectly in the quietness of the songs. The music feels very personal and warm. Not to mention the voice, I feel the sincerity in what he sings. The melodies are so beautiful that it makes me wanting to sing them every time. It has gorgeous lyrics also.

From Freedom Flowers:

Spring is in the air again
Not for you but everybody else, you held your breath too long
For something good to come along, but now

Oh winter is your only friend and
In the air you see your breath turn grey

Then in the next track Ballad of Better Land we get these healing words:

Hold on tight my friend
We'll escape the rain
That wakes you in the night
And drags you down
To keep you here in this place we called home

We're just laughing in the wind as everything below starts to die
And I know we'll find better land in time

And From New Mirror:

Sometimes
I think of all the times when I would lay awake
Til everything was dark, but it was daybreak
I'd watch myself get eaten by the light that poured
In every little corner of my room

My favorite songs are:

Although I like every single song and when I listen to the album, I sit and listen tot the whole songs.

You can listen to it in YouTube, buy it on Bandcamp.
