Album review: Plæygirl by MØ
MØ is an artist I used to listen in middle School, I would really repeat over and over her songs, but later I just forgot about her?. The last album I checked from her was Forever Neverland, so I was surprised where I saw her new album in my new releases section on Spotify and decided to check it out.
My first impression listening to the first song was that it would be a calm album, but that was just the introduction, almost all the album it full with upbeat tracks. Then in the second track we get hit by Who said and you immediately want to dance, I see why it's the most listened song from the album. Even if I haven't listened to her for a long time I still can get the same style from her songs but at the same time I can see a clearly change in her sound. If I'm remembering right, her sound was more soft/chill and in this album they using more heavy sounds and more experimental as we can hear in Plæygirl single (although I'd like more distortion and heavier production in some songs).
I like the sudden change they do from track 8 "Keep moving", these last songs has a more retro vibe that I really enjoy. One more thing that surprised me (in a good way) was the cover "Wake me up" from Avicii, for me it's not the best cover, I actually haven't heard any other from this song, but I did like this one, it made me smile because I wasn't expecting that.
This album it's about 35 minutes but I didn't felt the time, it passed so fast! For me it's a very fun album, I usually don't listen a lot of electronic music (this is not full electronic but still) but I feel like I'll be replaying this many times, I just vibe with almost all the songs and make me wanna stand up and dance (I already heard the album 2 times today).
My favorites are: Who said, Knife (this song has a great groove) , SWEET, Keep Moving and Heartbreak. I also really like Plæygirl but need to listen more (but it has potential to be in my favorites).
