Album review: XG - The Core
I've been following XG for a while now and all these years taught me that XG equals high quality in all aspects: music, visuals, performance, etc. You would notice while watching their music videos that the work they put into it is insane. So I'm always excited when they release new music. I stepped into this album expectant and left me with full joy. This album is wonderful, exquisite, excellent, amazing, bop after bop, and all the positive adjetives you could think of.
I didn't have many motivation to write album reviews these days, but this album drag me out and screamed in my face: "You have to write about it! now!", so I'm writing this while listening the album for 3rd time.
This album consist of 10 songs where, one is an intro, 5 are fun pop songs, one is punk pop, one is slow pop, one is a ballad and the last one has great rap (as I'm used to hear from XG, I love their rap). Many songs makes me want to club, even though I'm not a club person at all, really, I'm not, but these song makes me instantly want to dance.
The ballad (4 SEASONS) is a little too simple, but at the same time I like it, is a nice way to slow down for the end of the album, their voices do all the work. I enjoy songs where their voices shine and this is one of them.
My favorite songs are:
ROCK THE BOAT. I'm replaying this a thousand times and nobody is going to stop me. Harvey rap part (1:01)? so good!
TAKE MY BREATH. Ready to dance when this songs starts playing. Love the disco sound!
HYPNOTIZE. This song makes me very happy :)
I like every song in the album, these are only the top for me. It's a very short album and it feels even shorter since I love it.
