I learned that Language is fascinating thanks to an old show
Like a year ago I found a YouTube short with a fragment of an old TV show, in this show they talked about language, It was so interesting that I searched for the whole program and at the time someone very kindly upload it to YouTube so I watched it. The show it's called Language And Linguistics by Dr. Henry Lee Smith, it's from the 50's but the quality is great I was surprised.
Every episode it's so good, the professor looks like he is actually passionate about the topic and explains in a very simple but effective way. While watching those videos I didn't feel like I was studying, I was just having fun while my brain absorbed all the facts. I didn't finished all the videos but now that I remembered this show I want to finish it. It's not on YouTube anymore, but I found it on archive.org! Here is the link if anyone it's interested.
I've never been interested in studying about language but this series made me enjoy a lot learning about this. I've got a lot of answers to questions like why we comunicate the way we do, how language affects our life and how language is influenced by our culture. It is fascinating.
