Talking about the world

I've been enjoying CSSBattle

Some years ago I discovered CSSBattle1 through YouTube videos, at that time I remember trying to do the challenges on the website but getting frustrated afterwards, I could manage to finish one in I think many hours, at the time I didn't knew much about CSS so it feel impossible to solve some of the challenges. Eventually I stop trying and forgetting about the website, but the YouTube algorithm got me back to it now.

I've been doing the daily challenges recently and now it doesn't feel too hard and it's very fun! When I did the first one I felt a little rusty but I could do it in less time than before, this made me realize that even if I think I didn't improve much, my CSS skills are much better and doing this everyday it's helping me to improve more. I end up doing research, reading the CSS docs, experimenting a lot and all that leads me to learn without being conscious of it, I even know how to use clip-path now! I've always like puzzle like games and now that I have enough knowledge to play it, it's very enjoyable.

At first I tried to only recreate the goal, but now I also take count of the size of the code and it's pretty fun to see how small you can get. I also like to see the top solutions the day after, it's interesting how people code different solutions and how small they get!

I've learned a lot this last week just by playing this and it's a time in my day that I look forward to. If you like CSS and you have some free time (maybe a lot of time if your not very familiar with it), maybe you should try it.

Thanks for reading (●'◡'●)
  1. It's a website where you have to recreate a image they give you with CSS only.
