Kimbra Live at Sing Sing Studios
I think everyone remembers the song "Somebody that I used to know", it has 2.4B on YouTube after all, but I don't think many people would know about Kimbra. That song was a one hit and later we forgot about the musicians that made the track come true.
Well, one day I randomly found a live version of this song and I got curious about Kimbra, because her live singing was great and I was intrigued about why I didn't hear anything from her besides that feature. That's when I found about her performances at Sing Sing Studios and until today, I still get impressed and hype up about it. I don't listen to her recent music to be honest, but I've replay these videos I don't know how many times. Reading the comments I'm not the only one, these videos were published 14 year ago and there still people listen to it, that shows how good these performances are.
The songs are from her album Vows, it's a good album, it's not one of my favorites but it has songs that I definitely love (however I need to listen to it again, it's been a while since I listen to the full album). The official records are good and I also listen to it from time to time, but these live versions excels. The band, the arrangement and her vocals really makes the songs came to live and it's so fun to listen.
I can see how she's feeling the music, not struggles, it's just her having fun and letting her voice out naturally. How she moves and how she articulates the words, it's like she's deep diving in the music. Everyone it's in synchrony here and together they created a masterpiece.
Her voice suits so much the jazzy style of the songs. I'm seriously mesmerized when I watch these videos, the way she express herself feel full of passion and I love when musicians get to that stage of artistic freedom.
