Language doesn't make sense
My father usually says that English doesn't makes sense, and of course from the point of view of someone who only speaks Spanish doesn't make sense in many ways, there are a lot of differences between these two language. I always respond to him that any language doesn't make sense and Spanish feels like the "right language" to him because it's his first language, then I proceed to say examples of things that doesn't make sense in Spanish (spoiler, there are a lot too).
I think I've been aware of this after having my obsession with languages in middle school. I was trying to learn so many languages back then but later I just sticked to English. Learning more about another language I kept looking back at my native language and comparing both, "how do this work in Spanish?" "Oh I wasn't aware that we used that word like that" those thoughts crossed my mind. I realized then that Spanish, English or any other language doesn't have a perfect logic and never will. If you ask a native why do you use that word here? they probably wouldn't know either.
Every language has it's own rules but also a lot of exceptions, and I think it's because language it's evolving trough time, people and history. Language can't be a logic thing because we aren't, people use slang, abbreviations, different accents in order to communicate better with other people, some "stablished rules" aren't going to stop them. Later those little changes become bigger until the point to change the language itself. So, how can we say that one language it's more logic than another? that's not possible.
The only languages that "make sense" are constructed languages like Esperanto o Toki pona, but that's because they were created with that purpose in mind, with set rules that are logical. I think these language don't have exceptions (I haven't learned them so I don't 100% sure). However, I believe that if many people start to use these languages often, it would also start to lose the logic and exceptions would be build in the way. People would modified it for the sake of more efficient communication.
In my opinion the illogical characteristic of a language it's what makes it beautiful, even if this makes it harder for me to learn it, I like to learn the meaning behind some words as history it's hidden behind. You can also learn a lot of people's culture and connect with them.
It's amazing how we use a language that was constructed by all our ancestors and at the same time, we are constructing it for someone else in the future.
