My favorite unconventional animals (Bearblog Carnival)
This is my entry to this month Bearblog Carnival :)
I love this topic, and I've been reading the posts regularly because I enjoy discovering random facts and curiosities. I've discovered very cool animals thanks to everyone entries! At first I wasn't sure about what animal talk about, because I don't have a big knowledge of any animal. I had some candidates for my favorite but I can't only pick one, so I thought of briefly talk about the ones that I have in mind.
- Red panda. I can't remember how or when I found about the existence of this animal, I just think that they are really cute. Years ago I even made some slides explaining why I think they are the cutest animals, just for fun, I basically copy and pasted facts like these and added lots of pictures haha. They have an international day! Third Saturday of September.
- Inmortal jellyfish (Turritopsis dohrnii). Sea creatures amaze me always. Some time ago I watched a video about how this species could practically live forever? (Which would explain it 100 times better than me) Their life cicle is pretty cool. Sometimes I wish to be a jellyfish, any kind.
- Octopus. Octopus are also one of my favorite sea animals, I find fascinating how they can camouflage themselves. What get's me sad sometimes is remembering that moms die when the baby octopuses are born, they don't eat and slowly die while protecting their eggs :(
- Starling. I found this bird recently because of it mimic abilities. I know there are other birds that are also good at copying sounds, but these little birds are reeeally good at it. I also love the looks of their feathers, they kind of look like a porcupine (the Sturnus vulgaris).
Sorry I couldn't choose just one...
Now that I see the list like this, I realize that I like solitary, not much social animals the most.
Days passed and I just remembered that I forgot to add the hummingbird to the list, I love them too.
