(Not so happy) Accident while writing
A few moments ago I was reviewing and editing the short stories I've written and suddenly noticed that the last one had a part of text missing, it was about 3 paragraphs for what I can remember, it's clear that it was a mistake, I probably deleted it when I was writing the continuation last time. I checked older versions but I didn't saved that past version. I panicked, I vaguely remembered what was the text that supposed to be there and tried to write it again, it turned out ok, but doesn't feel the same. It was one of my favorite parts! I remember thinking "Wow, I really like this paragraph, I think is my favorite" and for my luck, now is gone.
I write all my drafts by hand in a notebook first, but this one, just this one, I wrote it directly on the computer... I guess that part wasn't meant to be...still I'm sad I didn't notice earlier when the delete happened. This is exactly why I like to have my first draft in paper, I can't accidentality delete a whole paragraph there. I didn't thought that could be a problem until it happened, I thought at much I could lose the whole file if my computer fails, and that's why I make back ups, but small (human) errors like this, I didn't see it coming.
Well, is not like this story was a masterpiece, I started to write these stories not so much ago, is practice I know, It's ok, and because of this at least I learned that I'll stick to physical drafts, because losing work like this felt terrible.
Thanks for reading :)
