Talking about the world / Hablando del mundo

Out of the blue there was a stone

Today a little stone hit our car window. I thought it was a stone. It looked like a small very dark pebble, about 2 cm, but then someone in the car said that it could be a small meteorite, I found that idea so funny that it stayed in my mind, it probably will for more time now (because writing it down will better record it in my memory). It was likely not a meteorite, my theory is that probably was a rock that was lifted up from the street with the force of the car wheels, although the stone did appeared out of nowhere and I couldn't see from what direction came.

I searched up a little about small meteorites, because I can't be left with curiosity and found this line on the wiki article:

An estimated 25 million meteoroids, micrometeoroids and other space debris enter Earth's atmosphere each day

and on Meteors and Meteorites NASA's web article:

Scientists estimate that about 48.5 tons (44 tonnes or 44,000 kilograms) of meteoritic material falls on Earth each day.

After reading all that, now that comment about the thing that hit our window doesn't sound so unhinged. It surprise me that is more common than I thought, I mean, It makes sense, but I never thought about it. When I find facts like this it makes me think that I still have a lot to learn about the world and I'll always have.

In another note, the weather was better than what I expected today, I was trembling before going outside because I could feel the heat through the door, and the sink water felt very warm too. It was hot, but surprisingly it was windy and from time to time a cool breeze will pass by, so it wouldn't feel too bad as long as I stayed in the shadow.

Thanks for reading :)
