Some shows recommendations
This year I've watched shows that I really liked and in this post I want to talk about them!
The Marvelous Miss. Maisel

I loved this show. Little by little its characters and story won my heart, it was bittersweet when I finished it. I'd totally re-watch it someday. Maybe I couldn't understand 100% of the jokes because I'm not that fluent in English to get them as fast as she speaks, but still I find it very funny. It also has its seriousness that they take very well in my opinion. It's great to see her grow in that hard path of a career and the people around her.
Apart from the story, this show excels in the picture, everything looks great, the clothes, props, rooms, every place they show is carefully created to look accord of this vintage era. And the soundtrack is great too! I noticed on the last seasons (I don't know if they did this since the start but I'm slow and just noticed when watching 3rd season), at the end of every episode they play a song that is related to what happened in the episode. I felt that every season everything kept getting better and better.
Producing Nobuta
The story follows the high school lives of Kiritani and Kusano as they attempt to make a shy Kotani into the most popular girl in school. From Wikipedia
This was a cute teenage/coming of age show. I thought it would be cringe and with a cliché story, by reading the sinopsis you get that feeling. I wasn't sure either because is a high school story and I'm not that enthusiastic about those anymore, but it surprised me. It's charming, it's not very profound or anything like that but is a good and balanced story. It made me feel a sense of comfort while watching, it got me to smile and enjoy the interactions between characters and their growth. I even got attached to the outro animation and song, which felt a little out of place at first, I've never seen that kind of animated outro in a show like that and thought that it was an anime adaptation because of it, but no, it is actually a book adaptation. I would probably watch this show more times in the future too, because I connected with it more than I'd thought.
The Ramparts of Ice
The series follows Koyuki Hikawa, an introverted high schooler who keeps her distance from others, until three of her schoolmates draw her out and help her enjoy her adolescence to the fullest. From Wikipedia
I haven't watched much anime this year and started to watched this because the animation looked cute, the story reminded me to a few other stories (even sounds familiar from the one I talked earlier), It is a trope that has been seen a lot, however they found a different perspective from these characters that are relatable.
For the animation alone, I like how sometimes the backgrounds and other parts of it are painted with a watercolor effect.
This was one of the reasons I awaited for Thursday to come haha, now I have to wait for second season.
We Are All Trying Here
The "Group of Eight" is a gang of filmmaker friends who met as juniors and seniors in their university film club. They've since built successful careers in the industry—all except Hwang Dong-man. An aspiring director who hasn't debuted in twenty years. To mask it, he overcompensates by dominating conversations and lobbing harsh critiques at everyone. When I watched the trailer for this show it didn't interested me, however I give it a try because maybe I was wrong and, I was wrong! half a year has passed and I can say it's one of my favorite Korean series of this year so far. For me, it had a well mix of drama and comedy, it's more dramatic that anything else, but it has little moments of comedy that I liked.
I think this show hits me more because is about a creative person trying to get where he wants to be. There a lot of emotions I can relate to. And he tries while living with very heavy personal problems. It's a reflexive show with deep dialog, they bring up interesting concepts like "people like a mass of emotions", so it gave me a lot to think while watching. It's a healing show, you suffer with them and feel like healing with them too.
It was also beautifully filmed.
Human vapor
A mysterious man who can turn into a gaseous form appears and calls himself "the Human Vapor". The Human Vapor kills a professor on live television and announces that he intends to kill everyone involved with an organization called "the White Center". This is a very cool story and the effects are great! I finished the show very fast because I couldn't stop watching. It's short and packed with action.
Apparently this is based on an old Japanese movie, I added to my watchlist.
Science club
A professor of a night school creates a Science club with people of different ages and lives. They come together for a project: recreate a crater of Mars.
I adored this show and I want second season! (I know it's not likely but I can dream and I will dream). I adore when they explain science in shows, I could learn cool facts about Mars while watching this heartwarming story. Is short but is one of those shows that helped me feel motivated, to peruse a goal like the Science club did. It also made me feel a little jealous because I was never part of a club at school, it really looked fun.
Heroes
The series tells the stories of ordinary people who discover that they have superhuman abilities and how these abilities take effect in the characters' lives as they work together to prevent catastrophic futures. From Wikipedia
This is the last show I finished. I actually watched it before, like 10 years ago, I didn't remembered the plot at all so it was like watching it for the first time. The plot has so many layers, every season is full of new information and subplots that you really don't now how all is going to end. It's very entertaining to watch.
This series gave me everything I want from a superhuman story: a good villain, adventures, friendship, action scenes, complicated plot, cool powers, etc.
I just had a fun time watching all the twists and getting to know the characters, they are very memorable.
