Talking about the world

The freedom in programming, is it necessary a framework?

I've been working on my personal site in neocities and I noticed this freedom I've never had while programming. I've always done projects for school, for learning certain tool or programming language, projects to show on my portafolio, etc., but I never really did a personal project like this.

In other projects I had certain rules I had to follow, certain frameworks I needed to use, some guidelines, there wasn't really much choices I had to do in terms of how do I code it, but with this neocities site I can do whatever I want, use the project structure I want, use the tools I want to, code what I want to.

A moment ago I was considering using a framework for static sites like Hugo, I watched some videos and it looks cool, but then I though "Is it really necessary?" the site works fine, I like the folder structure I have right now and pure JavaScript, HTML and CSS works fine for me. It's not a super complex site, it's just a simple record of things I like. So I decided just go with what I have right now, keep it simple.

I see how frameworks are a necessity in many projects, in a project with limited time or where you have to work with a team, it's easier to use a framework that can guide the development of a project and at the same time code more efficiently. I like frameworks and I've had fun using them in other projects but deeply thinking about it, for this project I don't have a deadline and I actually like building things in my own, efficiency doesn't matter for this because I can take my time to work in it even if it takes me months or years.

I don't NEED a framework, I'm doing this for fun anyways. I'm enjoying this freedom in programing, I need to do more projects not for the sake of my portafolio but for myself.
