We live in a cyberworld
I've always had this idea, that we live in a cyberworld. What do I mean by it? googling it we get the definition of "a virtual world" "The world of intercomputer communication", but that's not what I mean, I see it as the combination of cyber (digital) + the real world, like cyborg is a combination of organic and cybernetic parts. We are now always connected to technology even if we don't want it to, we are dependent of it and it's mix in every aspect our of lives. So we live now in a hybrid world at which I call "cyberworld", the cyber part being as real as the organic part.
We socialice through the internet as well as in person, there are biometric security to enter our homes but at the same time we still use keys for other doors, for lockers or for cars. We listen music with our streaming platforms but there are some that still listen to vinyl's, CDs, or cassettes. Digital and traditional art coexist, there are digital museums, exhibitions on parks, online concerts with VR or jams in the street. We live in a cyberworld but we still are humans, there's been rumors of a project to put some chip in our brains for years, maybe it will become truth and then we will be cyborgs living in a cyberworld, I don't know how to feel about that.
Cyber was always a complement in our lives, something that is supposed to improve our lives, an advantage from our physical environment, but sometimes it feels like it lock us inside the digital part of the world. When they give us more and more cyber items we are slowly buried in them and lost sight of the real world, even though we know both are important. Yes, both, because nowadays the digital and real world are important. People spent a lot of time on the internet, so we are influenced by it, by social media, by entertainment, by ads and so on.
I think our cyberworld is not that bad, I think that if we try to balance it would be better, not forget that it's not just cyber or world, these two concepts are now together and we can't rewind. How balance it? I don't know I'm just writing my thoughts out loud. I don't think the cyber part would fully cover our world though, as humans (if we don't turn into cyborgs or matrix becomes real) we will always have a physical world to interact.
