Webcomics I'm reading
Webcomics and mangas are something that I get obsess from time to time, there are periods where I'm fully marathoning (is that a word?) a new cool comic I found and after finished it I'd just move on and forget that comics exist. Right now I don't have a comic that I'm obsessed over though. I use webtoon to read them, these days I haven't found new webcomics in this platform that are worth reading, I feel like I found very generic stories, but I still keep updated and read new chapters of webcomics I like and I've been following for a while. In webtoon they update a new chapter every week, so I'll just try to catch up.
I was thinking that I talk a lot about music and life but not about my other hobbies, so I wanted to write about webcomics since for a long time they were my main source of entertainment. I thought to write about the ones I'm reading right now because it's easier than choosing my favorites, it's always hard to choose favorites (but I'll do it another time, I do want to write about my favorites too).
So, what I'm reading recently?
Windbreaker
(Sports)
What is about? Group of high school students that make a biking club and get in a tournament. It's about friendship, facing challenges and as many sports media, growing and improving, achieving dreams, etc. There is a tiny drop of romance but it's never the main thing.
My opinion: I've been reading this for years, I grew up with it and it haven't bored me at all. In these years the story has expanded and it actually makes sense, maybe (probably) I'm biases but for me the story has build up well until the point it is now. I also love how the art has improved, it was nice at the start but now every panel it's a masterpiece. I get very hyped when they race. I can't stop thinking that this could be easily animated, I'd love that it gets animated some day. Every since I started to read it I wanted to try cycling and well, if you have been reading my blog you would know that I am now.
Space boy
(Sci-fi)
What is about? A girl from a space colony and a earth boy meets. I actually don't know how to tell what is about without spoiling anything, since it's a long comic the plot it's very long at this point.
My opinion: I love Sci-fi and I got instantly hooked. This story really touched my heart, every time I read a new chapter my love for it grows. I respect the autor so much for keeping the story run after a long time. The art it's charming since episode 1 and continued to slowly improve, it's gradual, I didn't notice much but when I go back to the first episode I can see how has changed. I admire the character writing in this comic, every character, even secondary ones feel alive. Their interactions with others, emotions and motivations, all of that makes the story feel like a real universe. It's a well build world. Also, the way that portraits the future sounds possible, the first episode was published on 2015 and there is some technology that now in 2025 we can see happening, as if the author predicted the future. It's just so good and you can see all the love and effort the author put on this comic.
Vampire family
(Comedy)
What is about? A family of vampires (obviously) and a daughter that wants to live in the human world.
My opinion: I started reading this because I liked the last work of this author "Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell" and It did not disappointed me. The humor in their comics is always hilarious, the faces that the characters make and the situations are very funny. The story started no so long ago so I don't have a lot to say about it, but so far I'm liking it a lot.
Love me knot
(Romance)
What is about? A girl who can see the red string that connects people but her string is broken with no one connected. It's similar to the believe of the red thread of fate.
My opinion: The read string it's a interesting theme and I like how is used in the story. This is a simple cute romance and sometimes that's what I need to read, I've seen/read better romance stories but this one has the factor that makes me smile a lot. The couple interactions are very sweet and I just have a good time reading it. I like romance, why can I say? for me it's like any other fiction trope of human connection.
Press Play Sammy
(Romance)
What is about? A girl who lives by herself and works hard every day to live independently after her parents passed away, slowly gets close to two popular boys from her school.
My opinion: When I first started reading it I though it was going to be very cliché because the sinopsis sounded like it but it really isn't. I think it's well balanced with drama, comedy and romance, it's not always about romance, It's also about how she copes with her parents dead and tries to live alone. I'm liking the flow of the story so far. I already have a soft spot for Sammy the main character.
Oh, I just found out that you can follow all comics on webtoon through RSS!
