What I've been listening to
It's been some time since I write about music here and I really wanted to do it so but I've been hearing a lot of new music recently that it felt overwhelming writing a post for every album like I like to do, so I thought "why not put everything in one post?" I can do that right?. I won't make very detail observations but I just want to talk about the music I've been enjoying! I still want to make album reviews, but it will take me more time.
These days I'm diving in new artists as well as listening to new releases, people it's been getting so much music out there! for me it's impossible to catch up to all of that but I try to, so far I've found great music.
Warning! This post it's about to get long.
Rediscovering Park Hyo Shin
I discovered him years ago with the special video of his song Wildflower and I was really impressed by his vocals y remember looking into him and added a few songs, but he has a long discography and I only checked like 10% at the time. Recently I got curious of him after hearing other ballad from him and decided to check out his debut album "해줄 수 없는 일", I truly loved it! so I decided to listen to all of his discography, yes, all. I realized why he is one of the most famous Korean soloist, he has a crazy career with lot of albums.
I've listened to his first three albums, the second and third are good too, but my favorite so far it's the first one because I genuinely like all the songs in it, his ballads especially have that intensity that makes me wanna sing them. From the second album I've been having "Show your love" in repeat, it's a very groovy song and it's so nice listening doing other genere besides ballads. From the third I'd recommend "You & me", I like the mood that guitar gives. I have so much albums ahead but I'm excited to listen to all of them, I'm very curious of his evolution.
I'm glad he chose to be a singer because his voice it's a treasure.
OK Go and their crazy MVs
I was going to do a post about this but I keep postponing it so I'll just add it here.
YouTube recommended the last video of OK Go and I was out of words, speechless at how they could make such a creative video, then I proceeded to go in a rabbit hole and watch all their videos as well as the BTS. And no, I didn't knew they where the ones they made the treadmill music video.
I like their music as well, they have very catchy songs like "I Won't Let You Down" sometimes I caught myself singing this out of nowhere. I like the electric? sound they have, their last album it's nice (i haven't finished listen to it but I like it so far). "Get Over it" is another song I like, it's an old one and surprised me because their sound has changed so much! I want to listen to more of their discography and I'll do when I have the time.
Appreciating Elliot Smit songwriting
I heard a song from him as a background music in a video and intrigued me, again went to listen more of him. I admire his songwriting, his music make me feel calm and like everything it's gonna be alright, it's not the most complex or anything but it touches my heart. I've only listened to his album Either/or but I plan to dig more into his songs for sure. "Ballad of Big Nothing" it's another song that I've been replaying.
Replaying Sade over and over
I discovered Sade thanks to the album review of Love Deluxe from The House of Supreme Sultriness and I adored it! I'm crazy replaying Sade songs every day, from their first two albums which are the ones I've listened. The groove of the first one it's something that made me fall in love with them even more. My favorites right now are Cherry Pie, I Will be you Friend (beautiful song), and Feel no Pain. I found the lyrics of their songs very meaningful, well writing and their instrumentals are great, I specially love the bass.
Beautiful Mind by Xdinary Heroes
I'm really vibing with this album right now. I've been following Xdinary Heroes for some time now, since their debut now that I think about it and watching their evolution it's been wonderful. I'll probably write another post about them in the future because I have so much to say, but at least here I want to say that I'm liking the direction they are going, I feel happy for them. In this album they really outdone themselves, I added all the songs, I like them all.
In this album the drums shine, in the past I didn't realized the good drummer they have but this album opened my ears. Also, it's bold for them to release a 4 and a half min song as a title track in this industry. My favorites from this album are "Diamond", "George the lobster" and "Fight me"
Andariega by Briela Ojeda
I'm a big fan of Briela and I was exited when I saw she released a new album. I love her songs because of her lyrics, they are so poetic and creative and it inspire me. Her style of music it's something I don't listen often but for some reason I enjoy his music a lot, this album wasn't the exception. Her music always feel very personal, very honest. My favorites are "Sakansandakan", "La cara de la ortiga" and "Dinosaurito".
Diving into Prince
I knew the name prince of course, it's a legend, but never really listen to his music besides purple rain, so one day I decide to do that. I already had some songs added "Call my Name" and "I Feel You", but instead of listening from their albums I don't know why but I started with HITRUN Phase Two. I remember playing the first song thinking I'll just listen to a few but I end up listening to the whole album, the mood of the songs really caught my attention, it's a very fun album. My favorites are "Look at me, Look at U" and "Groovy potential".
STUNNER by TEN
TEN it's really a amazing artist and good singer, maybe many people overlook it because of his dancing skills but I think he is a great both singer and dancer. I was obsessed with his debut album so I was excited to listen this one and...I'm obsessed with this one too. I really like his singing style as well as the style of the songs. "BAMBOLA" at first it wasn't my cup of tea, but after listening many time it actually grew on me, as for the other songs I like them since the first listening. I think this is a very solid album! My favorite are now "STUNNER", "BAMBOLA" and "Enough For Me".
DSTM by ONE OR EIGHT
I discovered this song thanks to an ad on YouTube, I think it's the first time I've seen a whole add. I didn't expect them to use a Rihanna sample and when I first heard it I was very shocked. I would described it more like a remix? because they use the whole chorus from Rihanna's song. They gave it a nice change to the original, the additional ad libs at the end are great too.
