When a stranger it's not a stranger anymore
It's hard for me to tell when a person it's not a stranger anymore, when do you start to call it a friend? I refer often to those persons as "person that I know" of perhaps acquaintances? but it's really a fine line. There is no rules to say: ok, you checked all the boxes so you are my friend now, it's just the feeling and intuition I guess, but I'm not the best at those.
I was thinking about this because there is a person I usually cross paths a lot when I go biking, I haven't talked a single word with them but when we see each other we usually welcome with a little smile or nod and then we just passed by, me in a bike and they running. I'm used to meeting them so I can't say they are a stranger anymore, but they aren't a friend either since I don't even know their name. The only information I know about them it's that they run a lot almost everyday.
Would you say someone it's a friend if you just know them by eye? for me I don't think so, but still I consider them a nice person. They greeting me and greeting back every time makes me feel somehow a little bit of company while biking. I usually go with company of my family too, but seeing them creates the idea of "yea, I'm a regular here, I'm part of those people that work out" and it feels good to make those small human connections.
Yea, this isn't a friendship yet, but it's indeed a pretty human connection.
